Product Description
Perplexus is a maze game where players must maneuver a small marble around challenging barriers inside a transparent sphere. Unlike traditional flat-surface mazes that are composed of one path, Perplexus houses various exhilarating tracks with 100 barriers and provides a three dimensional experience. Players select which track they would like to attempt, and then must work with gravity and carefully shift, flip, and twist the sphere to guide the marble. Players can race each other or the clock. On top of being entertaining, Perplexus is also an educational toy, and assists in child development. It is a great toy for children to exercise their motor and dexterity skills, as well as improve their hand-eye coordination. Its small size makes it easily portable. No batteries required. Ages 6 and above.

5 out of 5 stars So Much Fun   August 12, 2010

Perplexus is super fun. My wife and I are currently obsessed with it. We have a friendly competition going on to see who can get the farthest. Even our six year old son has fun with it. It's an amazing little puzzle where you try to navigate a steel ball bering through a 3D maze which is contained in a spherical plastic bubble. Think of it as an updated version of the old wooden labyrinth game. There are all kinds of cool obstacles and tricks to work through. It's hard to set it down and walk away, but eventually you have to.

5 out of 5 stars Durable hours of challenging fun for all ages   August 6, 2010

This could be the next rubix cube. First off I want to say this isn't some cheaply made toy that's going to brake before your kids have a chance to really enjoy it. This withstood a toddler throwing it down on the concrete sidewalk. I have three sons ages 1-7 and they've all enjoyed it in turn. My oldest son understood the concept and spent many hours mastering it and my younger son who's 5 just had fun for hours trying it out. I don't know what he was doing there was a lot of shaking and turning but I'm pretty sure he wasn't playing it the way it was meant but still had hours of quietly playing with it. The 1 year old obviously didn't know how to do it but loved the colors and tossing the ball around. I also had fun sitting down with it and trying over and over again with some success. I can't wait to sit down again with it once the boys give me a turn.

5 out of 5 stars There is no better description for this thing than "perplexing".   August 3, 2010

Being a puzzle addict,I just had to have this thing called Perplexus".I have a large collection of puzzles of many types. One of my favorite types of hand held or mechanical puzzles is what is usually referred to as "Dexterity Puzzles".Another favourite ia hand held mazes, usually with one or more balls and one or more paths to complete."Perplexus" combines both of these challenges.
There is really no secret to solving this challenge other than patience and the dexterity of making the necessary moves to get the ball from start to finish. From the start at the first signpost to the ultimate end ,there are a total of 100 markers to pass. There are also two other starting points at markers 26 and 59.I have spent a fair bit of timeon it ,but as yet have not yet been successful in completing the path from 1 all the way through to 100.There are several very difficult obstacles, that I am not really sure are even working correctly.Several other reviewers mentioned the purple swinging arm, which doesn't seem to work correctly at all. Then there is the small purple "Bucket" near the center that sticks and doesn't swing properly. So far,as far as I am able to tell, these are definitely shortcomings. That aside,it is a real challenge and will intrigue a wide range and age of player.A lot of comments suggest that it can be played with, almost like a ball by young kids.I suspect, that is too hopeful, because this is a very frail object, and will be easily broken if subjected to any degree of abuse. As others have mentioned, the "Perplexus" watermarks are annoying to see through, and serve no usefou purpose. While it would be possible to follow the path without the numbered markers;it would be a much more difficult challenge. The markers are certainly an aid,but far too difficult to find and even read.Reflections make the numbers very obscure, and almost impossible at times.I found it best to use this puzzle in a dark room ,at a desk with a single desk lamp.
Overall, this is a very good dexterity maze, but it certainly would benefit from several improvements, and would not stand up to much ,if any ,rough handling.

5 out of 5 stars Fun for all ages   July 9, 2010

This toy was for my son who is 12. He just loves it. My 10 yr old gets addicted to it and loves it as well. My husband enjoys the challenge. While on vacation my oldest was playing with it in the airport. The looks he got were funny. They couldn't figure out what he was doing and I guess too scared to ask. I think it's intimidating at first glance. Great toy for the mind.
